Amazon Web Services, Google, selected by Israel as the leading cloud project

The Israeli government has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google for a project worth more than $ 1 billion (approximately 7,530 kroner) to provide cloud services for the public sector and the military in the country.

Amazon and Google kill Microsoft,, Oracle, and IBM in the tender for the four-phase project known as Nimbus, the finance ministry said on Wednesday.

They will set up local cloud sites in Israel with an initial investment of ILS 4 billion (approximately Rs 9,180). These sites will store information within Israel in accordance with strict security guidelines.

The four phases of the project include the acquisition and construction of cloud infrastructure, the formulation of a state policy for cloud migration, integration and migration, as well as control and optimization of cloud activity.

Nimbus is a multi-year flagship project designed to provide a complete solution for providing cloud services to the government, the defense system and other groups in the economy, the ministry said.

Another tender process is underway to review the third part of the project, in which dozens of local suppliers will be selected to support the migration of government systems to the cloud and the development of systems in the cloud environment.
