Rashid Khan
Captain Sean Williams was undefeated at 151 as Rashid Khan’s seven carts helped Afghanistan fire Zimbabwe for 365 on Day 5 of Sunday’s second test at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Zimbabwe started the second session on 330/8, and Afghanistan took 12 outslets to take the last two gates. Rashid took the last wicket after making over 62.5 overs in the inning.
Rashid also wrote a unique recording in the longest format of the game. The 22-year-old made a total of 99.2 overs in both innings – the largest number of overs in a test in the 21st century. In 1998, Muralitaran scored 113.5 overs against England at The Oval.
In the first inning, Rashid recorded figures 4/138 of 36.3 overs and chose seven for 137 in the second, where he made 62.5 overs.
Earlier, the 187-track partnership between Williams and Donald Tiripano helped Zimbabwe escape an inning defeat and even gave them a chance to withdraw.
