Apple may launch a foldable iPhone with an 8-inch flexible OLED display as early as 2023, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The foldable iPhone is also expected to have a 16: 9 aspect ratio. Apple is expected to take advantage of foldable smartphones for some time. Some schemes and patent lists involving the development of a foldable iPhone have also appeared in the past. So far, however, the Cupertino-based company has remained silent on developments and whether it plans to take over companies, including Samsung and Huawei, with its foldable iPhone soon.
Referring to a research note addressed to investors, AppleInsider reports that Kuo predicted that a foldable iPhone will have an 8-inch QHD + (1,800×3,200 pixels) display that will have a larger number of pixels above the QXGA + screen available on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Kuo said that Samsung display will probably be a partner to produce a foldable display for the new iPhone while Samsung foundry will handle its integrated circuits for display drivers. Some previous reports have suggested this LG Display will produce flexible display panels for Apple ‘s Foldable iPhone.
In addition to SamsungApple reports that it is working with Taipei, a Taiwan-based provider of sensor solutions TPK to offer its silver nanowire solution to touch the foldable iPhone. The HomePod it is already said that there is a silver nanowire touch solution that allows a touch to be introduced into its upper part. But it is not clear whether this solution is produced by TPK. However, the Taiwanese manufacturer is one of Apple’s activation partners 3D Touch on earlier iPhone models.
“With its ecosystems and hardware design benefits, Apple will be the biggest winner in the new folding device trend,” Kuo was quoted as saying by AppleInsider.
Apple has reportedly been working on its foldable iPhone for the past few months. The company obviously filed several patent applications for his folding design this can be limited not only to the iPhone family, but also extend to his future range of iPad. It is said that there are at least two prototypes of the folding iPhone models tested internally in a Foxconn factory. Report in November too suggested that the first foldable iPhone could be announced sometime in 2022.
